Betfred League One Round Up | Round 9

Both Cumbrian sides were victorious in Round 9 of Betfred League One, posting 40+ points over their opponents on Sunday.

Workington climbed to the top of the table for the first time in 2025 with a comprehensive win over a struggling Keighley outfit at Cougar Park.

It’s a fifth straight win for Town, who blitzed their opponents with eight tries on Sunday afternoon, including doubles from Jake Bradley and Dave Eccleston.

This was despite Keighley initially opening the scores through Brad England, as the West Yorkshire side remain rooted near the foot of the table and are still without their first league win of the 2025 campaign.

Whitehaven faced Goole on home soil, and after a closely fought first half, went on to score four times in the opening 20 minutes of the second and became unstoppable.

Daniel Spencer-Tonks crossed on the 42nd minute, before Ellison Holgate, Brad Brennan and Rio McQuistan scored within six minutes of one another to put the game well out of the Vikings’ reach.

Saturday’s action saw Midlands take the win against Rochdale in a Round 9 thriller. The game-breaking try came from Luis Roberts on the 63rd minute, who collected a high bomb from Sully Medforth before stretching out to score.

This saw the Hurricanes eventually storm on to victory. They are now level with Workington on league points heading into the next round…
